DAT members are deployed to family emergencies such as a house fire, offering those Red Cross services for disaster related losses. Upon request the Red Cross provides canteen services to those involved in fighting the fire. In the large event, additional Red Cross workers will be requested to assist in opening Shelters for those forced from their homes. To become a disaster volunteer please call the Wyandot Office at 419 294 1935 for details. Disaster Preparedness A Disaster Supply Kit for disaster preparedness is a never ending task, both within the Red Cross and in the Community. During a disaster and in the planning in case of a disaster, local resources must be located to help in the response to the event. Waiting until the event has occurred will cause the lost of valuable time in our response to a disaster. Wyandot County does not face the high risk of disaster as many areas of America, but we do have risk in fire, high winds, tornadoes, flooding, and the man made events such as a vehicle crash involving Hazardous Materials upon the highways. |
Our (CDE) Community Disaster Education Program bring to the
citizens awareness that prevention and preparedness can save lives, reduce
the impact and damage caused by some disasters. |
